Paediatricians use the web to answer clinical queries.
A study published in Archives of Disease in Childhood investigated paediatricians' use of the internet as a source of information to answer every-day clinical queries. The paper reports that two-thirds of paediatricians use the internet as the first "port of call" when looking for the answer to a medical question. 88% of the paediatricians questioned reported that web-based resources are essential for medical practice today. The paper did discuss the important aspect of the reliability or accuracy of information on the internet, particularly if found via a general search engine as opposed to a medical portal.
