Complementary and alternative medicines: adverse events.
Complementary and alternative medicines (CAMs) and therapies are often regarded as "natural" and, therefore, harmless. However, for the the vast majority of CAMs no formal testing or adverse event reporting mechanisms are in place. A study published in Archives of Disease in Childhood studied adverse effects associated with CAMs.

Cochrane Review of Grommets
A new Cochrane Sytematic Review regarding the use of grommets (ventilation tubes) for otitis media in children has been published. This systematic review of the use of grommets for recurrent acute otitis media in children concludes that they have a significant role in maintaining a "disease-free" state in the first six months after insertion. However, the authors do have a note of caution as the studies included were not perfect in their design or execution.
