Wald and colleagues propose a screening stratergy for familial hypercholesterolaemia.
Publishing in the BMJ David Wald and colleagues have proposed a stratergy for screening children and their parents for familial hypercholesterolaemia. This condition affects approximately 2 per 1000 people and causes increased cholesterol levels. This in turn leads to an increased risk of premature death from cardiovascular disease. At present no widepread screening programme is in operation. |
