Incidence of Type 2 Diabetes Rising
A study by Haines et al. suggests that the incidence of type 2 diabetes is rising in the UK. Haines et al. report the results of a study conducted through the British Paediatric Surveillance Unit.  Type 2 diabetes was until recently only recognised in adults.  However, this condition, which is strongly associated with obesity is now being identified in children.  The study by Haines et al. reports that the incidence is increasing in children in the UK.  It found a minimum incidence of 0.53 per 100,000 per year.
