Vitamin A supplementation endorsed by meta-analysis.
Deaths from infectious disease are rare in high income countries. However, in middle and low income countries millions of children die every year from infectious diseases such as diarrhoea. A large meta-analysis published in the BMJ provides robust evidence for the use of Vitamin A supplementation to reduce these deaths.

Screening tool may detect autism in one year old children.

The results of a study published in the Journal of Pediatrics demonstrate that autism may be reliably detected as early as one year.

Typically autism and autistic spectrum disorders are not detected or diagnosed until years later. Although the tool described in the paper is only a screening tool and not a formal diagnosis it can be used to identify children that may warrant close follow-up. The positive predicitive value of the test was predicted to be 0.75.
